Scott / Mathauser integrated brake shoes and pads - finned and curved aluminum shoes - post 1976 absent Black trim at the top and bottom of each shoe - thin profile iron oxide pads - 51 mm x 9.5 mm rim contact area - standard 7 mm straight post (non-threaded) fitting - straight (...not angled) edges - model MM ... [NOS / NIP - these classic Scott / Mathauser finned and curved aluminum brake shoes with specialized thin profile pads are comprised of their patented legendary iron oxide compound and having straight (...not angled) surfaces. These pads feature a rather substantial 51 mm x 9.5 mm rim contact area and standard 7 mm straight post (non-threaded) fitting for use with either cantilever brakes or vintage center pull calipers such as those made by the likes of Universal, Weinmann, Dia-Compe, Gran Compe, or MAFAC including their Dural Forge, Racer, Competition, GT, or 2000 models - this is a complete set of four shoes with pads, enough for both front and rear application - introduced to market midway through calendar year 1975, the very earliest versions of these Scott / Mathauser finned brake shoes with pads exhibited Black paint trim along their top and bottom edge as well as within the recesses of each of the cooling fins - those produced as of 1977 (...such as the ones seen here) were absent that detail, but one can easily add similar Black touches with a paint brush should they be so inclined as to mimic first edition types - back in the day when you could buy a decent brand new and complete brakeset consisting of calipers, shoes, pads, levers, and usually cables in the form of Dia-Compe Gran Compe, or Universal Super 68's, or Weinmann 500 De Lux, or MAFAC Competition, all for $20.00 or less, a full set of these Scott / Mathauser brake shoes and pads for your very special ride set you back a rather stiff $13.00 to $17.00 - but for that amount of money, you got the best performing brake shoes and pads available at the time - bar none]

CAUTION: as with all original Scott / Mathauser finned and curved brake shoes and pads of this vintage, the brake pads themselves have been permanently bonded to the aluminum shoes - how "permanent" this bond may be after thirty plus years is a matter for speculation - and while I have never personally experienced one of these pads separating from its shoe, I believe that one would be well advised to exercise a measure of caution should you be inclined to actually put them to use as intended.
