Simplex SLJ - 28.0 to 28.6 mm clamp-on mount - Simplex "starburst" logo on facing of the hinged clamp - light aluminum alloy body, hinged clamp, and outer pivot arm (chrome plated steel inner pivot arm) - Clear anodized finish - Silver foil badge with stylized "Simplex" logo in Black on Black plate of outer pivot arm - matte chrome plated steel cage / post 1976 "rounded" leading edge style cage plates / pre 1984 Simplex "starburst" logo on outer facing / series of three open windows on outer cage plate - rear pull design - 14 tooth maximum capacity - model SLJ (Super Lucien Juy) A 522 ... [NOS - from a cosmetic standpoint, this component is near perfect excepting a couple of very light markings to be found on the backside of its body (...these are only noticeable when viewed in just the right light and at just the proper angle - most people would not likely notice their presence except upon close inspection, and in any event, they will prove even more difficult to discern once this derailleur is properly mounted onto a bicycle frameset) - introduced in 1977 and subsequently produced as seen here through 1983, and thereafter in essentially the same configuration absent any Simplex "starburst" logo on its outer cage plate, the SLJ A 522 superseded the SLJ A 500 as their top of the line competition / racing front derailleur - this particular variant was also the first C.P.S.C. compliant design front derailleur to be offered by Simplex]
