[USED - this is an ever so slightly used and very low mileage Simplex SLJ (Super Lucien Juy) A 522 front derailleur - functionally, this component is in perfect state - and from a cosmetic standpoint, it remains in excellent condition - evidence of minimal use can be found inside the matte chromed steel cage plates from their having come in contact with a chain, but only enough so as to polish their finish inasmuch as no amount of actual wear can be discerned when one runs a fingernail across these surfaces - there was some minor oxidization along the very edges of the hinge clamp bolt, but almost all of this easily wiped away to reveal bright chrome beneath (...and if you spent about 30 seconds with a buffing wheel, I have no doubt that any remaining trace could be removed altogether) - once properly mounted onto a bicycle and readied for use, this derailleur might well be able to pass for "new" excepting a circumstance where one moved the chain aside to closely inspect inside its cage - introduced in 1977 and subsequently produced as seen here in its second iteration from 1984 onward, the SLJ A 522 superseded the SLJ A 500 as their top of the line competition / racing front derailleur]
