Raymond Delisle (1976) - Front
On the strength of his impressive win in the mountainous stage 12 (Port Barcares - Pyrenees) during the 1976 Tour de France, thirty-three year old veteran Raymond Delisle found himself wearing the Maillot Jaune for the first and only time during his Tour career. And while he would hold onto the overall lead for but two days time (...Peugeot-Esso-Michelin teammate Regis Ovion would cross the finish line first the very next day in stage 13 only to fail his post race drug test and have his name stricken from the record), Delisle would still ultimately post a career best fourth in the general classification of the 1976 Tour de France - a mere single second behind iconic forty year old Raymond Poulidor who was riding in his fourteenth and final Tour.
