Brake Levers - 01
BRAKE LEVERS:
MAVIC 410 - traditional non-aero cable routing - Silver colored non-anodized aluminum alloy bodies - "drillium" style Clear anodized aluminum alloy levers with post 1985 and pre 1990 horizontally milled slots - post 1985 and pre 1990 vertical block lettered "MAVIC" logo on facings of the lever arms - model 400 brake lever : MAVIC / Modolo 919 gum hoods - post 1981 anatomic profile - model 400-010 (right) / 400-011 (left) ... [Just as would be true of their associated brake calipers (...see description below), MAVIC brake levers offered prior to the year 1989 were actually OEM versions produced by the Italian firm Modolo and rebranded specifically for MAVIC. One of the more interesting aspects of these brake levers would be their "as original" gum rubber hoods which feature a rather unique anatomic profile. Introduced in 1982 for use with their own line of brake levers, Modolo model 919 brake hoods were often found paired in the aftermarket with contemporary Campagnolo Record levers and other vintage clones including SunTour Superbe / Superbe Pro, as well as Shimano Dura-Ace and others, due to their excellent ergonomic design. The only caveat to their use would be the fact that they are, to use the Queen’s English, "handed" - which is to say that you need take care to note exactly which side is which upon installation lest you accidentally negate any ergonomic advantage to be had. The particular brake levers that you see here happen to be 410 road models dating from 1986 through 1988.]
