Bernard Thevenet (1975) - Back
Despite the representation found on the backside of this card that the picture image on the front shows "...Bernard Thevenet on his way to victory in the 1975 Tour de France", I am of the belief that said photograph was actually taken at some point during the Criterium du Dauphin? Lib?r? (...a mountainous multi stage event in which Thevenet would prevail for both 1975 and 1976) held one month earlier in June of that very same year. Regardless as to my own speculation, the picture in question was decidedly NOT taken at any time during the 1975 Tour de France as claimed to the extent that Thevenet was assigned rider number 51 throughout that competition (...and this would be inconsistent with the number seen in the photograph) … AND … particulars of the Maillot Jaune itself are simply wrong for the 1975 edition of the Tour (...the arm patches are absent the BP designation used that year after Thevenet claimed the Yellow Jersey from Merckx, and the sponsor designation found emblazoned across the front of said jersey would have been Miko ice cream products throughout the 1975 Tour as opposed to Carrefour food markets as depicted here).
