Jacques Esclassan (1977)
After finishing third in the overall points classification the preceding year, Jacques Esclassan would win outright the 139 km stage 5a (Morcenx - Bordeaux) during the 1977 edition of the Tour de France and ultimately finish with 236 points and the Maillot Vert or Green Jersey as that year’s points leader and best sprinter - the first Frenchman to accomplish that feat since Andre Darrigade back in 1961.
