Bernard Thevenet (1973)

After an initial breakaway in the 1973 François le Championnat (...the French National Road Race Championship) was caught by the peloton, a second attack saw Bernard Thevenet (Peugeot-BP-Michelin), Raymond Martin (Gitane), Jean-Pierre Guillemot (Sonolor), and Charles Rouxel (Peugeot-BP-Michelin) break clear from the pack. With teammate Rouxel’s support, it was Thevenet that finally managed to escape onto his own and ultimately claim victory in event.
