[This lightweight aluminum alloy version of the T.A. bottle cage debuted back in 1973 and then continued on in production with only minimal alteration well into the 1980’s (...other than the eventual availability of color anodized versions, the plastic top guide being the only true evolutionary modification - the earliest versions had a ribbed front side with a T.A. "chain ring" logo molded into their backside whereas second edition models as seen here incorporated an "alphabet logo" on their front as well as a "chain ring" logo on their back, while third editions featured only an "alphabet logo" on their facing with no relevant markings whatsoever on their backside). Throughout the 1977 racing season, Peugeot-Esso-Michelin team bikes were generally equipped with one T.A. aluminum alloy bottle cage affixed to their down tube directly via braze-on mounts, and whenever occasion warranted, with a second such cage was attached to their seat tube using a pair of Specialites T.A. model 17 aluminum alloy clamps with corresponding alloy nut and bolt hardware.]
