Simplex SLJ - double spring articulated design - Clear anodized forged aluminum alloy upper and lower housing - Clear anodized forged aluminum alloy pivot arms - Gold foil badge with stylized "Simplex" logo in Black on outer pivot arm - chrome plated steel chamfered pivot bolts marked "SIMPLEX" and "L. JUY" - aluminum alloy pulley cage plates with chain guide - aluminum alloy pulley axles - ten tooth bushing style pulley wheels - 14 to 30 tooth freewheel capacity / 38 to 52 tooth chain ring capacity / 30 tooth maximum total capacity - 230 grams - model SLJ (Super Lucien Juy) 5000 T/SP ... [USED - very good condition albeit with light markings to be found at the top of the upper housing as well as along the pulley cage plates consistent with nominal usage - the spring action is nice and smooth but the pulley wheels ought be removed and repacked with grease - the SLJ 5000 was the successor to the SLJ AR 615 (...and it is most easily differentiated from its predecessor by the presence of a Delrin chain guide integrated into its pulley plates) and was generally considered to be Simplex’s top of the line derailleur from late 1974 through 1978 (...unless you did not loathe French "plastique", in which case the LJ 4000 as ridden by the Peugeot-Esso-Michelin team from 1977 onward afforded the same wonderful shift qualities with even more "lightness of being") when it was superseded by the SLJ 5500 rear derailleur]
