Maillard 700 Professional freewheel - 13/18 (13-14-15-16-17-18) standard 6 speed - 2 notch removal interface - 1.370" x 24 TPI English thread - 2x2x2 stepped body of Zicral (7075 T6 aluminum alloy) construction with steel pawls, ball bearings, and outer cone - Zicral (7075 T6 aluminum alloy) cogset / three notch slip fit cogs / threaded locking cog / duplex threaded cog pair - nylon plastic spacer rings - model 700 Pro Team ... [UNUSED ... BUT ... now with light markings to its teeth begot of unsuccessfully applying a pair of chain whips - I acquired this particular freewheel as a supposedly NOS item (...although there turned out to be a couple of aesthetic imperfections to the two notch removal keyways which led me to speculate that it was at one time mounted onto the likes of a show bike but never ridden) with intent to change out its existing set of cogs for a combination more suitable for my own intentions - the problem is that I have not for the life of me been able to unscrew its outer two duplex locking cogs, even after having employed several tricks including soaking the entire freewheel in Kroil penetrating oil (...and I am afraid that if I apply any more force to those chain whips, I am going to risk stripping the threads and ruining things) - so, I am going to now offer this freewheel up to others who might be able to either work their own magic or perhaps use it "as is" - any of the markings to the individual cog teeth are really quite inconsequential from a functional standpoint, and this freewheel still ought to perform flawlessly (...although I would strongly suggest that one drown the whole assembly in single viscosity, non detergent, 50 weight motor oil prior to actual use given that it is now bone dry of lubrication) - introduced at the October 1973 Salon de Bicyclette in Paris and thereafter produced almost unchanged for well over a decade, the French manufactured Maillard 700 Pro Team was ultimately the lightest metallic freewheel ever marketed to the general public, tipping the scales at a paltry 135 grams for a six speed straight block - these ultra lightweight Maillard Pro Team freewheels were purpose built specialty items intended for select racing applications where component longevity was not of any import - while it is true that several of its contemporaries also employed individual aluminum cogs, the Maillard 700 Pro Team freewheel took things a step further by incorporating an aluminum alloy body as well - only the outer cone, pawls, and ball bearings themselves were of steel composition]
