3ttt Competizione Superleggero - nylon plastic (Rislan or Nylon-11, a trademark product of the Rislan Corporation) shell - microcellular open pore foam padding - Black suede finish seal skin cover - aluminum alloy frame rails - model # 30 Superleggero ... [Upon its 1974 introduction, this alloy railed Superleggero model of 3ttt was absolutely the lightest leather covered saddle available to the general cycling populace. However, following the 1976 release of the 225 gram Selle Italia SE-02 Superleggera and the 1977 debut of the 235 gram Avocet model III Racing, the 3ttt saddle seen here had to relinquish that title. Still, it had the decided advantage of being fitted with a genuine seal skin cover which meant that its finish was almost impervious to the elements when riding in inclement weather conditions that typically doom more traditional leathers. And besides, if someone really wanted to shed just a few grams from their 3ttt Superleggero so as to get its weight down below either of the aforementioned competitors, this could easily be done with a bit of judicious and strategic drilling on the underside of its sturdy nylon shell. This particular Pino Morroni bicycle was first presented to its original owner equipped with a Cinelli Unicanitor model 75 # 2 "Tour de France" saddle having steel frame rails and featuring a nylon plastic shell topped with a chamois leather cover over light foam padding.]
