Bernard Thevenet (1973)

Having broken away from the peloton during the last kilometer of stage 7b (Aspro-Gaillard - Méribel-les-Allues) in the 1973 Tour de France, Bernard Thevenet finally managed to get clear of not only the other riders but the rain and hail that had dogged everyone throughout that afternoon. Although he would easily win the stage, Thevenet was still only able to take 15 seconds out of race leader Luis Ocana and ended the day some 3 minutes and 17 seconds behind him in the overall standings.
