SEAT POST:
Simplex SLJ - two piece aluminum alloy construction - Clear anodized fluted aluminum shaft with horizontal stitching - Clear anodized cast aluminum headstock - two bolt bifurcated single pivot clamp - 27 mm offset - 240 mm x 26.6 mm - model SLJ (Super Lucien Juy) 4164-A extra-légère ... [Retail versions of the Peugeot PY-10 produced from 1976 through 1981 inclusive came equipped by default with a Simplex SLJ 4164 extra-légère seat post finished in either Clear anodized Silver or a Gold anodized tone, and in either case, having a diameter apropos the type of Reynolds tubing specified on the corresponding build sheet - 26.4 mm for frames constructed from metric Reynolds 531 (...i.e. standard 7/10 mm wall thickness), 26.6 mm for those built with metric 531 SL (...i.e. Special Lightweight - 5/10 mm wall thickness), and 26.8 mm for those few constructed from metric 753 tubing (...i.e. 3/10 mm wall thickness). The SLJ 4164-A seat post selected for use in conjunction with this particular bicycle is merely a longer version of the SLJ 4164 having a 240 mm shaft extension as opposed to only 188 mm (...this taller post being requisite for me to be able to raise my overall saddle height to an optimally comfortable level). While all of my research on the subject has led me to conclude that such a choice was not made available from 1975 through 1977, there was most certainly an option to alternatively specify a genuine Laprade 606 seat post on the PY-10 CP custom order form for years 1978 through 1980 (...I am decidedly less certain as to the status of whether or not a Laprade post was optionally orderable for model year 1981).]
