FRAME PUMP:
Poutrait-Morin "Z" series - frame pump - Silver colored ABS barrel - vacuum metalized "Chrome" finished handle and sheath - Peugeot logo - integrated pump adapter head - post 1976 frame fit handle design - model 874 ... [Custom ordered PY-10 CP retail model bicycles from 1976 onward were generally provisioned having a Peugeot labeled "Z" series high pressure frame pump (...I say "retail" models because I know of no evidence to suggest that these were ever fitted onto Peugeot-Esso-Michelin team bikes - at least not while in competition). With a history dating back to 1880, Poutrait-Morin had been forged by the merger of two separate companies in 1935 and came to collectively represent such renown French brands as Zéfal, Christophe, Lapize, AFA, Tornade, and Pressographe before eventually adopting the name Zéfal S.A. as their corporate identity in the late 1980’s. Introduced to market in the Fall of 1973, the "Z" series tire pump represented a departure from their typical aluminum fare and was intended as Poutrait-Morin’s direct competitor to the Italian Silca using a similar ABS barrel and composite construction methodology. While the vast majority of "Z" series pumps were produced absent branding, the particulars of any Peugeot related graphics specifically did evolve over time with the earliest versions having a checkerboard motif with the pump itself being of a fixed length requiring use of a corresponding chrome plated AFA model 34 umbrella style pump holder. At some point during model year 1977, an updated "Z" series pump featuring a frame fit handle design was made available and a Peugeot branded version of same with revised logo was thereafter provisioned in conjunction with PY-10 CP bicycles in one of three lengths apropos frame size.]
