Jacques Esclassan (1976)
A sprinter par excellence, Jacques Esclassan finished third in the overall points classification during the 1976 edition of the Tour de France and in the process crossed the finish line ahead of all others (...and only just ahead of overall race leader Freddy Maertens who would eventually place eighth in the general classification of that year’s Tour while claiming the points classification and corresponding Maillot Vert in the process) during stage 8 from Valentigney to Divonne-les-Bains, the last flat stage before the peloton challenged the Alpe d’Huez.
