Stem - 01
STEM:
Philippe ATAX (Peugeot label) - aluminum alloy - Clear anodized finish - 22.0 mm quill - 25.0 mm size clamp - 100 mm length - single bolt non-quick release - post 1975 having an Allen key hex release bolt - post 1975 and pre 1985 "cone nut" style expansion fitting - model Competition ... [A factory correct component as would have been provisioned on all 1978 vintage Peugeot PY-10 bicycles excepting those which were genuine team issue (…contemporary Peugeot-Esso-Michelin team bikes were fitted with either a Cinelli model 1A or 1R stem in conjunction with a set of Cinelli handlebars). When custom ordering a PY-10 CP of this vintage, a prospective buyer was asked to specify their preference of stem length ranging from 90 mm to 130 mm, but the only type and model provided in 1978 was the Peugeot labeled Philippe ATAX Competition stem as seen here (...although certain models of the PY-10 other than the PY-10 CP were made available having a Gold anodized version of this otherwise identical ATAX Competition stem). Both the Black colored "PEUGEOT" labels with Silver lettering affixed along each side of the neck as well as the "ATAX - MADE IN FRANCE" sticker located at the top of the stem are intact originals (...and it might be worth noting that Peugeot PY-10 bicycles dating prior to 1978 typically had a round "Selection Tricolore Course" or STC sticker on the top of their neck and not an ATAX label - the component itself, however, would have been the same in all other respects excepting perhaps the pre 1976 version which would have had a blind handlebar release bolt with rear mount hex nut fitting).]
