[With the exception of genuine team bikes, Peugeot PY-10 bicycles for model year 1978 came equipped with Phillipe Professional handlebars like the ones seen here as original equipment (…contemporary Peugeot-Esso-Michelin team bikes were fitted with some variation of Cinelli handlebars depending upon individual rider preference). That said, select models of the PY-10 other than the PY-10 CP were made available having a Gold anodized version of otherwise identical Philippe ATAX Professional handlebars. Still, this is one of the precious few components where retail customers were offered no option of choice whatsoever in specification when completing the detailed purchase order form for a PY-10 CP. As a matter of fact, the actual width of the handlebars that one received was determined by Peugeot’s own Prestige shop consistent with whatever they deemed appropriate given other pertinent build details such as frame size and stem length. One could, however, indicate their preference of either Black or White colored Velox Guidoline Champion cloth tape with which to have said bars wrapped (...although it should be noted that I have elected to use Velox Tressostar here as a personal preference since it affords a tad more cushion owing to its comparatively thicker profile), and this choice in turn dictated the coloration of matching Velox rubber bar end plugs supplied.]
