CHAIN:
Sedis - 1/2" x 3/32" (12.7 mm x 2.38 mm) narrow profile - "Argent " or "Silver" finish - bushingless design with inner floating link - chamfered plates - Delta hardened pins - model Grand Tourisme GT-7 SA : Super Link II connector - reusable master link - nickel plated "Silver" finish - model 4 Standard ... [Upon its introduction in 1978, the Sedisport chain instantly rendered all of its competitors, predecessors, and contemporaries obsolete (...which is why it is difficult to find anything other than this type of chain in production even to this day). With its ingenious and revolutionary "bushingless" design, the original Sedisport 4D not only shifted smoother than anything else on the market, it was also 30 percent stronger and more durable, had 20 percent fewer moving parts, and weighed substantially less than any previous design using the same materials. While the retail packaging seen here identifies this example as an early 1980’s vintage Sedisport GT-7 SA model, the chain itself is identical from both a functional as well as cosmetic standpoint to the Sedisport SA offered to the general public in late 1978 - which may post date this particular bike build by mere months, but it is still a direct descendent of the Sedis Sedicolor chain that would have originally come fitted as standard equipment on a retail PY-10 CP at that time (...prior to July of 1978, Peugeot-Esso-Michelin team bikes also employed the Sedicolor 4DG, but they changed over to the all new Sedisport 4D chain for the 1978 Tour de France, and used those exclusively thereafter).]
