Bernard Bourreau (1971)
While still riding as an amateur, nineteen year old Bernard Bourreau joined Doug Dailey of Kirkby in a break on the last lap of the rain soaked and wind whipped 1971 Manx International, part of the week long Manx Cycling Festival held on the Isle of Man. It would be Dailey’s great misfortune to flat on the descent to the finish, allowing Bourreau to take the victory despite a strong effort from Dailey after a wheel change.
